The dry months
December through April are generally dry, sunny and increasingly hot as the season progresses — March and April tend to be the hottest, most intense months of the year, before the wet season's rain starts to cut the heat with cloud cover and cooler evenings.
The wet months
May through November bring the wet season, characterised by short, heavy afternoon downpours rather than all-day rain. September and October are typically among the wettest months. Flooding can occur on some low-lying streets during the heaviest downpours or high tides, usually clearing within a few hours.
Humidity
Humidity stays high for most of the year, which affects how the heat feels more than the raw temperature numbers suggest — even "cooler" months can feel sticky. Light, breathable fabrics and a slower pace in the early afternoon heat are worth building into any itinerary.
