Saigon's live music scene doesn't shout as loudly as its rooftop bar or street food scenes, but it's there, spread across a handful of dedicated jazz clubs, bar back rooms hosting local and touring musicians, and the occasional larger live venue for bigger touring acts.
Jazz bars
A small number of dedicated jazz venues, some run by well-regarded local musicians, host regular live sets in an intimate setting — a good option for an evening that's more about conversation and atmosphere than the loud energy of Bui Vien or a rooftop crowd. Expect a cover charge or minimum spend at some venues, and a considerably calmer, more focused crowd than the city's other nightlife strips.
Other live music venues
Beyond dedicated jazz clubs, a number of bars across District 1, District 3 and Binh Thanh host regular live sets spanning acoustic, rock, blues and Vietnamese indie acts, often on a weekly schedule worth checking ahead of a visit. Larger touring international acts, when they come through, tend to play bigger dedicated event spaces rather than these smaller bars.
Who it suits
Visitors who want a lower-key, more conversational night out, or a specific interest in jazz or live acoustic music, rather than the louder mainstream nightlife strips.
